Combine Sales Orders and Invoices in a single Netsuite report (not a saved search)

I know it's not possible to combine Sales Orders and Invoices in a single Netsuite report so wondering what others have done to get around this.
Our web and catalog channels generate sales orders; our retail channel generates invoices.
We need a true picture of demand in the format of a Netsuite report; a saved search doesn't look professional enough.
