Online Form Mandatory Fields

I have created an Online Form attached to a Custom Record.  I've also set some fields to be Mandatory.  When using the form (both Internal URL and External URL) to enter a custom record, the mandatory fields do not have the nice * after them to show as mandatory.  Why did this change in the UI not roll out to Online Forms?  My template only has the fieldname (eg. <NLCUSTRECORD_VDRDRIVER>).  Is there any way to do this?
