Assign Totals

Hi

I am trying to get a sum of rows in a table.

I have seen this solution online with the following formula:<#assign total = 0><#list record.item as item><#assign total = total + invoice.fxamountremaining>

However, this doesn't appear to work as when I use ${total} I just get 0.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
