Changing Non-Lot Numbered Inventory to Lot Numbered Inventory Item

Have an Inventory Item which upon first creation was not assigned as a "Lot-Numbered Inventory Item." I need to begin assigning serial/lot numbers to this item as I continue to purchase it.

Is there a way to edit this?

I could simply delete it and create a replica as a Lot-Numbered item but would then lose costing history and current inventory presumably.
