Script on customer record

I am trying to give access to customers using a server script and its not working!  I get the following error when I try to run a search on the 'password' and 'sendemail' fields:

Error: SSS_INVALID_SRCH_COLUMN

An nlobjSearchColumn contains an invalid column, or is not in proper syntax: password.

Are these fields not available for scripting??
