nlapiLoadRecord - record type for any stage: customer, prospect, lead?

In server-side script I will be processing a transaction and will retrieve the ID of the customer and then want to load the customer record to set some fields on the customer record.

As I go through the planning, I can't figure out what would be the right 'recordtype' to pass to loadrecord if I only know the customer ID but not whether they are 'customer', 'lead', 'prospect'. The documents just are not clear on this at all.

What should I be passing? 'Entity', 'Customer'??
