Mass Update After Transaction Submit

So here's my scenario...  After submit of a sales order, I need to update lots of Inventory or Assembly Items based on the values entered into that sales order.  There is a potential for over 100 items to be updated.  Is there a good way to do a mass update of all these records?  I know there is an nlapiSubmitField call I could use except that uses up 10 usage points so I would only be able to update 100 Items.  I could use nlapiSubmitRecord except that would use 30 usage points (10 to load and 20 to submit).  I
