What Field Triggers Sales Orders To Have A Hold

I am working with a developer to import sales orders from an external source and I need to know which field I need to populate (if a sales order needs to be reviewed) that triggers the warning and makes it to where that remove hold button shows up. Has anyone ever done this or know which field makes this happen on a sales order? Thanks!
