Update Item Group line item in Item Fulfillment via client script

One of the member items for an item group product is a serialized inventory.  During fulfillment after the serialized member is selected and we hit save, we would like to copy the serial number from the member item to a custom column on the item group line item.  Is this possible?  I can't figure out how to access the item group line item on the form.  Any ideas?
