Using website tags to pull info from 'Event' record type

We utilize the 'events' record types for a series of Seminars we sell to customers. I'm working on a custom template for the events, but the following tag isn't working. Is anyone currently using website tags to pull info from their events?

<%=getCurrentAttribute("event", "location")%>

This yields a blank return... Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
