Here is my scenario:

I have 2 custom record types:
Shipment
Shipment Item

When we receive a shipment, I want to enter the total freight charges into a Freight Charges field on the Shipment record.  Then, I want to store the percentage of that charge that each child contributes.  I would like to put a field on the Shipment Item record that is something like "Freight contribution".  This field would be a calculation of, for example, Shipment.TotalWeight / ShipmentItem.weight.  This would give a percentage that, across all Shipment Items, would add up to 100%.
