Why do line items repeat themselves?

I'm generating a saved search and my line items are repeating themselves. On my sales order I only have 1 line item but in my search results I have 5. I know this situation can occur if you add a result column that has multiple values but in this case my columns are:

-Date
-Item
-Number
-Amount

I don't want to group because I need to group for a calculation I want to run after my data is correct.

The type is sales order but when I change the type to invoice I get only 1 result per line item. Any reason why this would happen for sales orders?
