Problem with a Formula Field/CASE statement

I'm working on a report and am getting an Invalid Expression error that I can not figure out.

I've stared at this long enough, and could really use another set of eyes on it.


Formula (Numeric) - Sum - CASE WHEN {custitem_pr_factorial} = 1.5 THEN 1 ELSE 0 END

The above gives the Invalid Expression error

However, another similar field, which contains the above formula gives me good data.

Formula (Numeric) - Sum - CASE WHEN {quantityavailable} IS NULL AND {custitem_pr_factorial} = 1.5 THEN 1 ELSE 0 END


The only difference between the two is what is in red: CASE WHEN {quantityavailable} IS NULL AND
