Serial Numbers for Drop Ship PO Items

Hello,

Does anybody have a good way to track the serial numbers of items sent by a vendor to a customer through a drop ship PO?  Am I correct in assuming that there's no standard way to enter the serial number on the PO / item fulfillment since there's no Location and the serial number is never actually entering our inventory?
