Tracking R&D & Manufacturing cost against inventory items

I have a clothing company that outsources their manufacturing. When they track gross profit they want to track purchase cost, manufacturing cost and R&D cost against the item. To get the sales price there will be a mark up against R&D, Manufacturing and purchase cost. Has anyone any ideas as to how we could do this?
