Stop Customer Record Updating After Updates To Opportunity Record

Hi all,

I'm after some ideas please as to the best way to stop NetSuite from updating the Customer record's Status after updating an Opportunity record.  Is it possible, or do I need to allow NetSuite to actually make the update, then perhaps have a script that runs changing the Status back?
