Avg Cost Showing As Zero

I am new to this company and am helping the controller try to figure out some zero cost on invoices. What I am seeing is that the Purchase price for am item was set in Feb 2018, an order was created in June 2018 and the average cost came through as zero. Does anyone know what would cause this? Is there a way to see the date the average cost calculated? Thanks for the help!
