Item specific permissions

Is there any way to restrict access to items on an individual basis?

For example, let's say I have a sales rep who only uses NetSuite to add sales orders for their clients. One client wants to place an order for 500 Lavender Deodorant (An assembly including the formulation, container, and label). As the rep is entering the items, is there any way to prevent the SO from listing the raw formulation (an inventory item) when the rep types "deodorant" item search?
