Why is the search function no longer able to find certain transactions?

I always use the "Search" box and today (after being upgraded to the new release) we cannot find certain transaction by entering in the transaction #.  Nor can we find it if we type in sales: #### (if looking for a sales order for example).  I realize I can use the Quick Search, but this Search function was always so helpful.  Is anyone else having this issue?
