Inventory Mgmt - Scan Gun

We were just given a scan gun and wanting to add it to Netsuite. Not finding much in SuiteAnswers on how to tell Netsuite that a new tool has been added. And then how to get UPCs to the gun? Looking for direction or suggestions on how to get started with this project. Thanks!
