How to Print applied invoice number on credit memo?

I have applied a Credit Memo against an Invoice.  I now want to print the "applied" Invoice number on the Credit Memo - the purpose is to make it clear to the Customer which Invoice [Number] the Credit Memo relates to.

Can anyone advise how this can be done using the standard Transaction Form PDF layouts and preferably without scripting?
