Looking up Unit Name via REST WS

I'm using REST Web Services. Starting with this item query:

purchaseUnit is 4. Is that a Unit or a Unit Type ?

Units are not exposed via REST WS. Unit Types are, but I don't know the unit type.

Is there a way to get the name of the Unit with internal id 4 ?
