How do I create a credit for a customer?

I've perused the SuiteAnswers before making this post.

I tried following the instructions on this page. It didn't do what I was trying to achieve. It seems to allow me to apply the credit post-sale.

The idea is to give the customer a $100 shopping credit after winning an e-raffle. By default, if the customer is making a $109 online purchase, by the time the customer goes to checkout, they are only paying $9.

How do I achieve this?
