Advanced Numbering rules not applying to standalone Credit Memos

Hello, I've set up rules on Credit Memos via Advanced Numbering. If I create a CM from an Invoice, the numbering follows my criteria. However, if I create a standalone CM, these rules are not applied. Do you know why that is? Thank you.
