I have a manufacturing client, and there is an FDA Requirement of full traceability of finished goods. The Lot/Serial trace bundle is installed. This bundle works well for the finished goods the client builds.
What I am trying to determine is if the tables holding the data needed for the trace are available via scripting. This is what I'm trying to do:
We need to migrate the traceability of finished goods built prior to implementing NetSuite. A lot of these need to be stored, FDA requirements as well as the need to repair some of these items if needed. To repair these, we have to have the historical data of all components within a FG.
My solution is to create a custom transaction record to log the repair (a repair will remove one or more components, and replace them, voila - FG is back in action).
Using 2 custom records, I'm capturing the Serial on each FG, with the second custom record capturing each component and it's lot/serial number. For the historical FG builds, the data can then be imported into these 2 records, and any repair can use a suitelet to remove / replace components.
However, while discussing this internally, my boss asked if we can access the tables used by the Lot/Serial trace bundle, writing into them, as well as extracting the data out of them. If we can do this, there is no need for the custom records! It would be leveraging NS capabilities - and would be sweet if we could do this!
Does anyone know if the Lot/Serial tables are accessible via script?
