Customizing NetSuite can be a powerful way to support unique business needs. Custom fields, custom records, workflows, scripts, and tailored forms can all help teams work more efficiently.

But customization also comes with tradeoffs. When too many changes are added without enough planning, the result can be a system that is harder to maintain, harder to support, and harder to improve over time.

What is Over-Customization?

Over-customization happens when a NetSuite account includes more customization than the business truly needs, or when customizations are added in ways that make the system more complex than necessary.
