Workflow great if you know it! - Who does?
The workflow manager is certainly a desirable and potentially very valuable tool, however it is vague in its documentation and difficult to debug. I am no expert, however I have been using NetSuite Oneworld as a global administrator for 2 years and took 30hrs to create 3 small workflows, when I think it should take 3 hrs.
We have running in our production account workflows to:
Create phone call records upon lead import
Send confirmation email when appointment created
Create phone call records when opportunity created
Use a workflow action to kick of a validation suitescript upon appointment creation/update
The great development and effort that NetSuite has put into the workflow manager is undone by the lack of clear and concise documentation (even though there is reasonable user guides). The user guides don’t include key pieces of information and add to this ‘build differences’ between Production and Sandbox, makes the workflow manager difficult. I believe we have had a number of skilled NetSuite knowledgeable people assist us with these workflows, including Netsuite Support, and yet it has taken ‘days’ to create a 2 state workflow with 2 actions – set field value and send email.
