Sales Order Create Performance

I am importing sales orders of various sizes. While the sales orders are being imported successfully, the amount of time NetSuite is taking to process the sales order create or update is roughly 6 minutes per 100 lines on the sales order.

Some of the sales orders being imported around 300 lines or better, causing a 20 minute+ wait. I need to use synchronous functions due to processing being done after the sales order has been created/updated.

Is there any way to increase the performance for sales order imports?
