Report showing false data on the 1st line only

We have a report that's pulling customized fields from the Sales Orders.  It's working great, EXCEPT for the 1st line on the report.  The 1st line ALWAYS pulls in info in all the fields, even if they may be blank on the sales order.  So the 1st line has false data in the fields that should be blank.
Does anyone know why? Or how I can get the report to be accurate?  It's our Production Schedule report and it's very important that it's accurate.
