Hiding or Removing Fields in beforeLoad?

I have a user event script deployed for a system I'm making part of which requires hiding and removing certain form elements on the view event.  I've been trying to do this for awhile but haven't been able to figure it out.  Does anyone know how to do this?  Thanks in advance.
