Best approach to counting usage and sorting by frequency of use

I'm pretty new to NetSuite so maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, but could anyone give me some advice on the best way to do the following:

I'm trying to capture the various industries that current and new clients belong to via NAICS codes, which have corresponding Industry Titles.  I’ve created the custom record type for the NAICS codes because according to what I’ve read, there is no way of uploading a CSV file for a custom list.  In my record type, in addition to the NAICS code and Industry title, I’ve also create a field called NAICS Usage.  What I’m trying to do is keep a count of the NAICS codes that are used, and sort the NAICS codes and their corresponding Industry titles by the
