Subtract 2 Date/Time fields

I have 2 custom Date/Time fields in my custom record, i want to subtract field1 - field2 and put value in field 3

For:
(field3)8/2/2013 1:01:46   = (field1)8/2/2013 1:07:46  - (fied2)8/2/2013 1:08:46

can someone suggest any formula
