Nothing? No one uses Bookings or the calendar?

Ahh...I had this same question. APPARENTLY, hours logged onto a timesheet do nothing to reflect % complete on a project unless they are APPROVED. So, if you do time sheets on a monthly basis like we do, this field is useless. I turned it off and created my on based on a custom calculation that was actually accurate.
