I was about to ask the same question as Robert. However, I suspect that the user wants to change the serial number. Could you elaborate? How many transactions are affected?
-
Start with a saved search on your sales orders/quotes. Can you retrieve the item number field the same way regardless of how the transaction was created? The result of that test will help you determine where the error is occurring, on the data retrieval or on the PDF layout.

Take a look at the 'NetSuite Approvals Workflow' bundle. From the global search bar, go to 'Search & Install Bundles' and look for bundle 240841. There is a lot of configuration required, but this could be exactly what you are looking for. You will need to get your purchasing team to always enter a PO for every purchase.…

It might be on another tab. It's been a long time since we customized our form, but I think it might have been under the Web Store tab...not certain. Look under each of the tabs. Once you find it, click the 'Move Elements Between Subtabs' button (see image above) and you can put the field into the Main section.

The sales description field is available for assemblies, inventory items, and other inventory types. You may just need to make it visible on the form. To do that: * Open an inventory item's record in Edit view * Click the Customize --> Customize Form link in the top-right corner of the screen * On the Custom Entry Form…

An update in case anyone else runs into this problem: The NetSuite support team still has not been able to update the GL account. 41 days and the error continues to occur when I attempt to change it. On three separate occasions, the NetSuite support team told us that they were going to make the change, but they have failed…

Our integrator helped us develop a process. Inventory adjustments are a bit different from other transactions. The primary objective is to have your system inventory accurately reflect the physical inventory. If that's not the case, cascading transaction errors can result in a mess quickly. However, you also need to be…

Go to your NetSuite dashboard and personalize. If you add the 'New Release' tile, it will show your exact upgrade date and the dates when the preview account will be available. Example from our account:

This relates to a bigger question that many people have asked--is there a way to pull an inventory value for a historic point in time? There's not a simple way to do that. The only way is to sum up all transactions prior to the measurement date. Summing all transactions can be done. It's just cumbersome and, if you are…

We evaluated the options during our 2017 implementation and went with RF-Smart. At that time, RF-Smart had the upper hand in user accessibility, cost (RF-Smart users can be NetSuite token users), mobile scanning/printing, and cycle counting. We are still solid supporters of the RF-Smart system--it is very solid and simple…

An inventory turnover report is available from the menu: Reports --> Inventory/Items --> Inventory Turnover
-
You are absolutely correct. In our industry, everything has to remain 100% traceable. We could never do that with stand alone RMAs. Start every RMA from a sales transaction and life will be much easier.
-
If you've spent this long on it, it's time to call a consultant who can log into your account and take a look. I have one I can recommend if you want. Are they pricey? Absolutely. But factor in the time you are losing and confusion in the warehouse because parts aren't listed. This is probably something that they can solve…
-
I assume that you are talking about shipping picking, not work order issue picking. Correct me if I'm wrong. Take a look at the 'Picking Ticket PDF/HTML Template' or your company's custom version, which every one you use. Make sure that the form you are reviewing is the preferred form for the picking ticket transaction.…

Enhancement #264712 just got my vote.

We had a similar need recently: all of the information for our pack labels exists on the work order, but we were still making them manually in the label program. We worked with SummitIT (https://www.summitit.com/printing-netsuite-labels-manufacturing/) and they created a turnkey package that was amazing. From a button on…

On an item record, the Item Name/Number {itemid} is used internally. The Display Name/Code {displayname} can be used externally (e.g. customer-facing documents). Could you load the customers' part number as the Display Name/Code? Try with one or two parts to start with. Then, you can make a custom transaction line field: *…

We are considering the Inventory Status feature to help segregate inventory that is awaiting QA inspection, awaiting rework, and which is nearing expiration. The NetSuite sales literature suggests that this could be a good fit for us. Our warehouse is 100% lot controlled and most items are also expiration dated. We are…

That did it! Thanks for the quick reply. I had forgotten about a project where we were trying to develop QA approval on new items before they would be released for use. We abandoned the project (couldn't figure it out) and thought that our test item would never be used again. We revived the part recently and nobody…

Centers: We have experimented with different centers for different roles. Eventually, we pushed most back to the Classic Center. We're also a small company and limiting the variations has helped with training and cross-functional changes. While it might not be dialed in for every role, the advantages of a consistent layout…

They're not UK-based, but we have had success with Aminian Business Services, https://www.aminian.com/ Our company is on EST and theirs is on PST. That difference has never been a problem.

I just voted for enhancement 136701. A budget is pretty much useless if you cannot get more granular than an annual cut.

As long as you don't have multi-level BOMs, you can do that with the following saved search Notice that I used 'Member Quantity', not 'Member Item: Member Quantity'. Also, don't forget to exclude obsoleted lines. You can filter those out using the criteria I show above. If you do have multi-level BOMs, you're out of luck.…

I found a way to write the saved search. For our company, part 1001B is sold loose and is incorporated into many of our kits. If you start from the assembly item record, you can write a saved search that captures both the dependent and independent sales demand. * Start a saved search against * Criteria Change our p/n 1001B…

For an item that has both dependent and independent demand, seeing the total sales is difficult. If you have a short supply chain, you can get a close approximation in a saved search that adds up: * when the item appears on a item fulfillment record * when the item appears on a work order issue record This will capture…

You should see a debit to COGS and a credit to your balance sheet inventory account. Verify that the item has a cost loaded; an average cost if you are using average costing or a standard cost if you are using standard costing. With standard costs, make sure that you have rolled and revalued the costs.
-
In order to pull the location standard cost, you'll need to filter to the correct inventory location. I suspect that you will need a custom field on the transfer and a workflow to populate it. The workflow would match the transaction's from location and the item's inventory location. --Chris

If you want your on-hand at any point in time, you have to sum up every transaction prior to that. If, for example, you've been live on NetSuite for 10 years, then you have to sum up 10 years of data. If you do not sum up for all time, you will be missing transactions that add/remove from the total.

Would need more detail, but you should be able to do this. * Product cost (i.e. what it costs your company to procure/make an item) is not shown to the customer. This is used internally for recording cost on your P&L * Product price (i.e. the amount you sell it for) is shown to the customer So, you are asking about…
