UPS / Fedex Shipping Collect

We have the ability to Ship 3rd Party Collect but not regular collect in base NetSuite using the integrated shipping feature.  This is extremely common in B2B transactions with large customers.  They simply want to use their UPS account number.  We cannot use the 3rd Party Collect feature since it adds 2.5% of the shipping cost to the overall shipping cost (UPS adds this surcharge).  Does anyone have any workarounds or ideas how to handle.  Do we have to script our own integration to UPS APIs? This has already been logged into SuiteIdeas - No ETA in sight.
