Build an Assembly and Put Finished Good Into Different Location?

We have a work order process whereby four sequential work orders are completed by different contract manufacturers. The finished assembly of one WO is a component of the next. Each CM is created as a location so we can track our virtual inventory. Is there a way to avoid doing an inventory transfer of the finished assembly to the next location/CM? I'd like to have the WO either  pull the components from the previous location or build the assembly and put the finished good into the next location for use as a component there.
