Utilizing a group of approvers

I am trying to wrap my head around having a group of approvers. Ideally I would like to have a group (static) that could checked against in an approval workflow. 

I know you can do one, but does anyone know how to do it with a group? I would very much like to stay away from having to edit the workflow if the project manager list changes.
