Checkbox Email Notification

Hi there,
I have tried unsuccessfully to create a workflow/saved search email notification based on a custom field. It is a checkbox on the opportunity record. I would like an email to be sent to a sales team member once the box is checked. I tried both a workflow and a saved search email notification without success.

My saved search criteria was based on system notes: field: (checkbox field), then system notes: date: Today.

My workflow had one state to send an email based on the conditions of the checkbox field being checked.
