Show message based on field in related record

I am building a workflow on proposals and I am trying to show a message based on a field on the customer record. So far I am not able to get the criteria on the show message action worked out.

My workflow is:

Record Type  Transaction 
Sub Types  Proposal 
Execute as Admin   
Release Status  Testing 


Initiation 

X    Event Based
On Create  
Trigger Type - All - 
Event Type  
Context User Interface 
 
Condition 

Use  X Visual Builder  Custom Formula
