Suiteflow for PO's

Can someone tell me if it is possible to not enable Approval Routing on purchase orders but still create a custom workflow on it for approvals?  I am asking because we have 2 different PO processes and only want to customize a workflow for one (via it's custom form).  The other PO process I would like to leave as is which just uses the standard approval functionality.  The problem with enabing the Approval Routing is that now I have to to create additional workflows to accomodate other areas.  It also sets drop ship purchase orders to pending approval status by
