Make Copy Button Use in PO Workflow

Does anyone have any tips/tricks on how to effectively allow users to use the "Make Copy" button on a purchase order that uses a custom workflow?  By default it copies over the current state in the wf.  I'd like it to make the copy but then reset it to the first state.

Any suggestions?
