Can't find correct trigger for State after Delay

Hi everybody,

This is probably a simple problem but I can't seem to find the solution.  I have a workflow that enters state #1 when an Opportunity is created, then enters a transition that has a delay of 120 days before entering state #2, which contains two actions: to change the OPP status and to send an email informing the OPP owner.  My trouble is that when it tries to execute the action I get an errors (in the log), saying that can't make changes or send mail in ONENTRY, so I try ONEXIT and get a similar message.  What trigger and
