PDF Form Revision Control

Interested in ideas around creating version controls and approval routing for PDF changes. Want to be able to work on a document, route it through an approval tree, collect notes, log changes etc. I can kind of see it with a combination of the form, permissions, a custom record and maybe a little scripting, but I'm wondering if anyone has done something similar, or if there's a fully baked 3rd part integration, I could consider before diving in.
