Bug? can't deploy with project directory the current working dir? (SDF CLI)

From project directory, if I execute:

sdfcli deploy -p ./


I get an error output:


Validation failed.

An error occurred during manifest validation.
Details: The manifest file is missing.
File: manifest.xml



Other commands seem to work if I use dot '.' as the project directory. There is definitely the .sdf file, manifest.xml and deploy.xml in the current directory when I execute the command above.
