Failed deployment leaves partial content in the target account, "validation" is worthless

SDF just moved to the #1 position on my S-list.

I just attempted my first large deployment of an SDF project to a production account. I validated it and everything was fine. The deployment failed with an error resolving custom object references and then blew up. I wondered if it left behind the partial deployment (uploaded files, created workflows) and sure enough the junk was left behind.

So consider this post a warning: [LIST=1]
[*]The validation to the target account is worthless
[*]SDF will leave a mess for you to unwind and mop up after it fails
