Validation taking 3-4 minutes on small project

I'm unsure what I changed, if anything but I'm seeing Validation operations in SDF go from 15 seconds to 3-4 minutes. I have a small project with 1 script file, 1 custom record and 1 custom entity field.
The validation DOES eventually complete.

No way to abort the task except to forcefully close poor WebStorm.
Have any of you experienced this? If so, did you determine the cause?
