Job Costing v. Advanced Project Accounting

Aside from supply chain services, my company, Global Source Mfg. (globalsource.us), builds / buys custom tooling and manufactured parts for its customers.  We are having difficulty creating a discrete record for each job that tracks costs in detail, but lets us send a simple, single-line invoice. 

For example, we sell a progressive die for part xyz for $USD.  I want this on the invoice, but not cost data. We will have numerous cost fields that I want to see in detail - items purchased from vendors, freight, travel, billable service hours, etc. - but would like to keep internal (customer cannot see this data).
