Tracking time against poroject changes the initial Estimated Work time

Initially, I have set up a list of 3 tasks with a fixed time of 1 hour each.
So the project estimated work time is 3 hours.
But as I track time against the tasks and mark them as COMPLETED,
the estimated work time changes to the total of my completed task + time in the in-progress/not started time.

Is that how it i ssupposed to work?

Is there no field for recording the Total Time allowed for the project in the Project Module?
