Importing Contacts to a Project

I've been looking at this requirement, but there seems to be no way to import contacts to a Project with the advanced projects module turned on. I've looked at using a custom mass update as, but the contacts sublist is not exposed.

I hope I'm missing something here and there is an easy way to do this.
