Currency Restrictions on Projects

Is there any workaround to the currency restriction on projects?  If I set the default currency to Euro, then I cannot create invoices in USD for that project.  I also cannot make journal entries in USD.  What is the rationale for this restriction?  NetSuite does allow vendor bills/expense reports in USD to be charged to a Euro-denominated project, so why not invoices or journals?  This is problematic as we sometimes have customers who wish to be billed in different currencies on the same project.
